Driving into Groton Long Point, Conn for this family’s beach portrait session, my heart was overjoyed. No really. Heart pumping, music turned up, I was back! Twenty years later, returning to this timeless, private beach community where my family spent our August summer days and nights. Now I was back to preserve this special time for an incredible family for them to remember their own summer memories in GLP, now that is a full circle friends.
I arrived early to take a quick trip down memory lane and reminisce of all the treasured childhood memories I hold so dear and close. I walked by The Casino which is at the center of all the GLP magic. Think 1920’s with the New England charm with cottage-esque wired-doors that swing open and closed, and front steps that are the perfect seat while enjoying an ice cream on the hottest of summer nights. Just as it was when I was a kid, there were bikes scattered outside and children fishing for clams on the rocks. An old-school classic gem of a location!
It had been over three years since they had family photographs taken, now their babies were growing up so fast and the importance of documenting this time in their lives was at the core of their portrait session. They enjoyed a memorable evening, holding hands, looking at the boats, laughing and making new memories together on the sandy shores of Main Beach on the most gorgeous of August nights.
I am so grateful I was able to play a small part in preserving this special time for them so they will be always be able to look back and remember the good days of their summers spent in GLP.
