With each season comes a fresh start and exciting changes and additions for many of the families I have been SO fortunate to document and grow with through the years. Last May, I photographed this loving family of three on the beach, a special place of meaning for them. Almost a year later and they are preparing to welcome another son to their hearts and lives.
For Lauren’s Maternity Session, we decided to mix things up a bit this time around and create a very special experience where the focus would be solely on their precious mother and son connection and a chance to give them an extra special memory together before welcoming their newest family member in May.
I loved everything about this simple mother and son maternity session. They laughed, joked about all the fun adventures Nash and his new brother will experience together, all the books he will read to his little brother at night, and of course all the trucks and tractors he will “let” his little brother play with. This truly was a special one-on-one time and memory they will look back on for generations to come.
During their session, there were laughing moments, gentle moments, and so many loving moments. One of Nash’s favorite things to do is play with Lauren’s hair, naturally because his mama is a talented hair stylist! They ended the day by stopping to get a sweet treat and made it an extra special day together, a time for Lauren to savor with her first baby boy.
We started indoors to allow for some cozy portraits and ended the session outdoors before the rain set in. The diffused light was lovely and made for some stunning portraits. With the the lightly snow covered water, the wind, and the brisk winter landscape, it really offered a soft and beautiful backdrop for their photographs.
Lauren, you my dear are GORGEOUS and Nash, I simply can’t wait to see you as a big brother!
