We finally had a week of gorgeous weather, and man how lucky I felt to be able to head to the beach, my most favorite place to photograph for this sweet family’s portrait session. The beach provides an exquisite backdrop like no other, the soft, neutral colors, the textures, the sense of calm and timeless beauty, it always creates the most classic family heirlooms and was a perfect setting for this beautiful family of three.
I first photographed this family almost four years ago to celebrate their son’s first birthday milestone. I remember that day like it was yesterday and now we were reuniting to capture this time for them to remember. We hugged as if no time has passed and enjoyed the beach all to ourselves, a benefit of photographing in the off-peak season!
In working with each individual family to bring their story to life, I love encouraging families to think about any special places of meaning to act as the backdrop for their session. I love thinking about their future family gatherings together, sitting down and pulling out their photographs from their session and telling the backstory to these treasured family memories.
These are the meaningful details that honors the depth of family roots and tells a special story while preserving history, it matter most to me to bring it all to life. What an honor, always!
Point O Woods in Old Lyme, CT is a meaningful place and where this loving father’s family would visit during the summers growing up. We looked at other locations but once I learned the significance of this beach location for them, I knew it would be the perfect setting for their casual and simple beach sunset portrait session. What better place to bring his son to and help connect the dots of life for the next generation.
