I feel as if we constantly ask ourselves “how has THAT much time passed? Has it really been THAT long?”. When we stop and think about this thing called time and how precious it is; how it passes so quickly, certain memories can feel so far from today, yet at the same time feel as if it was just yesterday, hmmmm. That’s why I love and appreciate reuniting with my past families so much!
I first photographed this loving family when their son turned one and now four years later, what seemed like it was forever ago, felt like it was just yesterday. Nash is growing and learning and we reconnected to capture all that these past four years have signified; the years of growing together as a beautiful family of three.
Time passes, memories last…
Mike and Lauren find their hearts at the beach, they are the sweetest couple, so fun and love laughing and being together. A night spent side-by-side watching Nash explore is something that fills them up with so much joy. I loved being there as they celebrated their first year of parenthood and now seeing their appreciation for the depth of what they have created through the years was so special. You would think they just met for the very first time with their giddiness toward one another, love them!
I love how they chose a special place of meaning to act as the backdrop for their photographs. A private beach along the Connecticut shore where Mike’s family would go when he was a child and a beach they now visit together, instantly creating new memories with Nash as he gets older.
The weather was gorgeous, the light was stunning, and they enjoyed a casual night walking along the shoreline with the calm wind and sounds of the ocean in the background as the sun set over the water. And goodness, I loved every second of photographing them enjoying being together, they are an incredibly sweet, loving, and gentle family. And Nash certainly loved every second of being in his parents arms and giving them all that love right back!
Family photographs may not be an every year occasion, but no matter how much time has passed, photographs will help connect the dots of life, bridging the gap and telling your beautiful story.
And oh how I adore capturing the story behind that passing time; it’s my most favorite element to photograph.
Their photographs are so timeless and classic. Here are my favorites, I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed working on them.
